Destiny Strings OOC Community Puppets on Strings

Welcome to the June Plotline! After taking into consideration the talk during the player discussion along with an effort to bring more action and danger right back into the game, we're pleased to announce this month's plot in full. For those who wish to do things a little more quietly, don't worry, there are also opportunities to stay back as well.

Finally after many hours of tears, issues with hosting, sweat and recoding the entire thing from the ground up to make it easier in the long run, the personas generators are all 100% online!
LVL 1 | LVL 2 | LVL 3 | LVL MaxMAJOR DIFFERENCES:
- An easier to understand menu with color coding. Anything in a darker green is a new spell for that group that wasn't there before, anything in yellow means the previous restriction was lifted (so a spell that required a healing skill but now doesn't would be yellow).

- Combat users have much more attacking spells, but healing skills climb slower than passive users. Additionally, their skills are upgraded based on 4 tiers of levels (spells 1-2, 3-4,5-6,7-8) instead of just two like before (it also fits better the strange level issues we had before like a small healing spell that shows up the same time for one person or all users). Many, many new spells that deal additional damage, and status affects.

- Passive/Support users now have even more unique skills to choose from, giving them a much bigger grasp on being support, especially when it comes to the higher levels. They have more powerful healing spells compared to combat users and finally, we've added the lowest nuclear skill for them to use (before they didn't have any, we're sorry!)

- The Almighty spells that were not direct attacks have been giving more power for both groups. Foul Breath increases all status attacks by 30% for yourself, for example, so it can really make certain battles interesting.

If you notice any mistakes in wording, or skills, just tell us so we can fix it as soon as possible! As a note, the basic lists now need to be updated to fit with these new skills, so for now consider these generators the ones with the right information.

The signups for the Valentine's Day event are over! The event starts tomorrow and runs through the end of the weekend. Please see this post for specific event details. There will be a catch-all log for each of the pairings going up tonight, but you can feel free to make your own posts if you wish. Here are the pairings:

At the end of the 13th hour on the last 22nd day, the calendar will switch over to the 29th. The Aquarius monster has disappeared much like those before it, and the city will finally become aware that they have been reliving the same day seven times, as well as the memories of the Visitors speaking with them.

Thankful for your efforts, the mayor will award you with additional spending money as a cash bonus. The city will also continue to research what exactly happened, and why the Visitors were not affected.

But you've saved the day once again! You have a few more days to help clean up before the month of February, but damage this time is minimal. It's just a question of concentrating on fixing the remaining electrical power that still needs to go out. And the end of month report should arrive soon with an update on the city's status.

Still, many questions remain unanswered. Why did this happen at all? Why were the Visitors themselves not affected? And in time, other things may begin to change...

The signups will be when the city update information is posted but for now, allow us to explain this upcoming month's event!

Feburary 14th - 16th

As the popularity of the Visitors continues to soar, the month of February is rather quiet. Enough for the mischievous fairies to get excited about the human celebration of Valentine's Day. They've been reading all about it, you know!

However, it seems that not many of them are participating at all! How boring... Well in that case they'll clearly need their help!

HOW IT WILL WORK:
► Two characters will find themselves in an apartment. Where exactly? No one knows. This could just be fairy space magic. The apartment will be lavishly decorated, the type you'd find in a Hollywood affair, heart shaped bed if you'd like.

► For the duration of the event, both players will be stuck together in that same apartment.

► Signups will be required. This is because we will be randomizing people based on preference. If you do have a set partner in mind, please have BOTH of you mention this. However the fun of this will be setting yourself up with people you don't know. Think of it a bit like blind dates only more terrible. However signups will be opened until the 13th at midnight, to give everyone a chance.

► While we will randomize people, we will also take your preferences into account, however keep in mind that we may not be able to fit everyone 100%.

► The fairies will be narrating what you are doing. How they do this and what they say is entirely up to you. You can take turns narrating each other's fairy, or doing it on your own. The idea is that YOU are the conductor of what goes on.

► Characters do not have to always agree with what the fairies say, but they will keep bothering them. For example, they might start writing about how Character A tenderly grabbed Character B in his manly chest and said characters are just shoving each other.

► Characters will spend two IC nights with each other. They do not have to be in the same bed (even if the fairies complain that their matchmaking is not working).

► If the characters do fall in love during this time, the fairies may up the tempo accordingly.

► At the stroke of the 16th, the fairies will release everyone and leave them with copies of the books they wrote and drew on them. What you do with it is up to you! There will be photographs. And artwork. And production notes.

As of the 13th Hour tonight, the Shadow Event is over! Feel free to continue backdating posts and threads for the event if you want to, since it's getting close to the holidays and we know people are busy. If you didn't have time to get a specific thread or post up for your character facing their Shadow, you are also free to handwave that - just post a short little blurb to this post describing how it went down.

And now, rewards! As we alluded to at the start of the event, anyone who faced their Shadow will be receiving a bonus for facing the darkness within. Those characters will receive a one-level bump to their Soul Persona's Dark element resistance. Here's a short breakdown of what that means, just to be clear:

-Weak becomes Neutral
-Neutral becomes Strong
-Strong becomes either Null or Absorb

For characters whose Dark resistance is already as high as it can get (Null/Reflect/Absorb), this bonus will be applied to their Light element resistance instead. Be sure to edit your Soul Persona as appropriate to reflect this difference on your character hub page. As a note, if you handwaved the fight with your Shadow, you are still eligible for this benefit - just make sure you comment to this post letting us know.

Characters who did not have Shadows during the event or who had Shadows but did not face them personally before the end of the week will not get this bonus, and their Shadows will simply disappear from the city by the end of the event. They may have avoided facing their deepest fears and worst selves, but also receive no benefit for continuing to hide from them.

As discussed in this post there will be a rescue effort to find Kandori and Q. Your votes have decided that the place where this rescue will take place is in the Dragon Quest universe! Dungeons and Dragons and magic and campy battle music await you.

The event will be from the 6th to the 9th IC but will continue as long as it is finished OOC wise.

I will be limiting rescues to two parties of maximum 3-4 players, for speed purposes. HOWEVER, and this is the important part, other characters are free to go into this universe as well but they will not be part of the rescue attempts which yield results, which means you will be allowed to send them off on wild goose chases and fight monsters based on the Dragon Quest III bestiary, and so forth. A bit of information will be available soon, but chronology it will not affect anything in the game's timeline and the rescue events will happen before the events in DQIII occur.

If you sign up, make sure you'll be available on a regular speed as we'd like to wrap this up as fast as possible. IC-wise, teams will be split off to cover as much territory in this world as possible with the two teams being the ones who home in on the two men to be rescued.

You may sign up as many characters as you have, but only one will be picked (whoever shows up first when we randomize). Good luck! SIGN UPS CLOSE ON THE 4TH at 11:59PM. There is no first-come first served as we will randomize the outcomes.

Additionally, the long-awaited Shadow Event will be on the 16th-20th IC wise, but will be, as usual, backdated as long as you wish. More information will be posted on the 9th! There will be no signups, but rather simply more info in the nature of the shadows to give you a better guideline.

We talked amongst ourselves and realized that considering we have many logs happening right now that require mod attention, we will postpone the Velvet Room log and place it right before the first rescue mission this December. This way, we are able to concentrate on the rebuilding operation of the city.

We apologize for the delay, but you are still allowed to take out new Personas as usual, and the log was going to serve more for flavor than plot related so there's plenty of time for it!

This being said, there is still time to vote on where this rescue operation will take place! Head on over to this link, and tell us where you want to go!

Additionally, below you will find sections of the city. What we'd like you to do is to either link to logs involving your characters going there, or simply reply here that this is the place your characters will help with the most. Even if you don't have the time to make an IC thread and only reply here, it will still be taken into account! This will give us a good idea of what areas are being worked on and what needs to happen. Remember, depending on what you do and what you search for, the story will change accordingly!
