Hiatus due to awesomeness!

Okay, something really super amazing hella awesome happened today.

For those who don't know, my profession is as a caregiver with my specialty being the care of the developmentally disabled (Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, etc.). Naturally, I've been working on trying to get my CNA because I'm planning on making a proper career out of this and I'm aspiring to be an RN.

So I get a call from the school I took the assessment for to get into the CNA course a few hours ago. Not only did I get in, but I got a perfect score and they want me in the session that starts on Monday.

So, yeah. Hiatus all next week because I got to scramble to get tested for TB and get a physical and a background check for the internship portion and start classes and get books and generally run around like a chicken with its head cut off. Plus on Thursday I'm interviewing for an internship at the hospital and need to prep for that around all of this. I'm going to be busy. I might tag here and there, but things will be slow.

Congratulations! CJust make sure to leave yourself some down time. I've worked in a nursing home as a cook for the past few years and the CNAs I know are always super stressed out... take care of yourself, and good luck with your studies!

Thanks!

I know how stressful it can get. I worked in a care home for the developmentally disabled for the last three years where the care staff did everything from the nursing care to the housekeeping to the cooking to all the paperwork. Naturally I learned how to manage that stress pretty well by this point and, when I couldn't, most facilities offer really good insurance plans that cover the cost of counseling and therapy to help. So I've had a good counselor helping me, too.

I'm glad to hear that. CNAs and RNs do such wonderful things for the people that they take care of; every time I think about it, I can't help but be impressed with what they do. So, it's good to know that you've got some truly excellent resources to back you up!

(In hindsight, these comments probably seem a little weird h-haha... I'm just really impressed with how fast/well things are going for you!)

Honestly, I'm still in shock, too. I was let go for reasons I can't discuss online due to HIPPA but ultimately amounts to technicalities in liability in December. It was amicable as both the HR guy and my previous supervisor, as well as the various RNs we had on campus have been helping me out a lot by being references for jobs and directing job leads to me.

as a result I've been interviewed three times in the six weeks since I've been let go--and now I'm being gunned into the CNA course. It's crazy the luck I have sometimes, man!

Aah, HIPPA. Don't worry about it, I understand completely.

It's really fortunate that they're willing to help you out so much! This sounds like an amazing opportunity for you, and I hope that it goes well. Good luck x1,000,000!!

What can I say? I was damn good at my job when I was there and I believe my supervisor when she said she bent over backwards to try to keep me from being let go. Of course people would be willing to help.

Thanks again and I should try to get to bed before I'm up until midnight squeeing about this.
