...The stakes have never been higher this year.

Following a message sent out by Commissioner General Kiyoshi Suou earlier this week, the city has been abuzz if the Anoli will really show up or not. Also teenbeat magazine.

But will the Anoli show up or not? Will this simply be a tournament of the ages?

That...is a mystery in itself.

▼ General Information

▶ THIS TOURNAMENT MAY BE DANGEROUS ON LOCATION, AND LEAVE YOUR CHARACTER IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A WEEK. This is your warning upon signing up, or being a spectator in the tournament. Thankfully anyone seriously hurt will be out of the hospital before the 30th, at least.

▶ Sign up date to be a fighter is from the 6th until the 16th after which the signups will be closed.

▶ PLEASE ADD YOUR TAGGING SPEED AT THE END OF YOUR POST IF YOU SIGN UP so we know who to pair with who.

▶ Characters can join even if they have not awakened their personas yet. In fact the tournament might actually really love that because ~~GREAT TV~~~

▶ You can sign up more than one of your characters, if you want!

▶ The logs involving the characters will start on the 16th. Visitor fights are scheduled to begin after the coming of age day. Before that, you will be able to write your characters going to watch and making sure nothing goes out of hand. (It will be done offscreen, but fortunately, nothing does go wrong during those days. Well, unless you're one one of the losers, anyway.)

▶ As signing up makes you automatically part of the tournament, they can be part of the opening ceremonies, if you want.

▶ IC wise, they would also have been told how to use an Evoker for the tournament before going out in the Ring. The days could also be used for training. Testing it is another thing entirely, as the Evokers are expensive and hard to produce.

▶ During any battle, you can post with your fellow combatant(s) to figure out who wins ahead or go as the long is done, OR ask me to roll a dice for you. The choice is up to both of you!

▶ Characters will be paired in teams for the tournament. In keeping with the game's fairness, the characters will meet in individual rooms 4-5 hours before the tournament to plan their strategy. this is to IC keep things fair (although OOC you will know who you are with a few days ahead)

▶ Because this is also when the characters will find out about dual personas, even if the two characters haven't had CR together for this occasion, they will get a special Dual Persona. You will be given a few day to make them so we can accept them before the fight. This is a unique occasion and a good way to, perhaps, make some new interesting CR.

▶ Characters get a free outfit for the event for their participation!

▶ Tickets are free due to the danger involved and taken care by the government. However, the seats are scattered this time, in the hopes of making you blend in more with the local populace. Keep and eye out and your ears open!

▶ If you don't want to participate at all or be safe at your own home, you can either watch on a pay--per-view channel in 3DHD (YOU CAN FEEL THE PERSONAS CLOSE TO YOU!!), spiffy replays and embarrassing closeups, or on a public channel. All of the matches are displayed on every available channel around the city, so you don't even need a television; there's a feed in your COMP systems too.

▶ We won't be able to do all of the fights against the camps ourselves...AND THAT'S WHY WE'LL NEED YOU! Below you will find an NPC signup. Just reply with an account, and we will PM you with a small character bio. You will be paired up against our PCs and fight with them.

▶ And a few of them MAY be undercover Anoli! HOW MANY? Could be only one! Could be two! Could be all of them! Could be none of them! The only thing we ask is if they are Anoli, that they tell no one.

▼ Fight Conditions!

▶ Oh right! This is the BIGGEST GRAND PRIX EXTRAVAGANZA EVER!! They aren't going to make it just a simple Persona battle, after all...

▶ Players will not know until the battle begins, but each fight will have conditions. The conditions are randomized from the following list below:

▶ Only Soul Personas Allowed
▶ Weapon, Soul and Room Personas
▶ Element & Physical Only Battle (Without Weapons)
▶ Status Effect Only Battle (With weapons)
▶ Cage Match (meaning that the combatants are stuck in a smaller cage than normal.)
▶ Karaoke (meaning songs are displayed on the giant screen and fighters must sing their parts otherwise their turn is lost)
▶ Standing on top of two opposing plastic boats with plants on each side, a pool of 'sharks' below (The sharks are actually the dolphins)

ICly, do the characters know ahead of time they will be paired up?

They will know about 4-5 hours ahead of time. This is so that the tournament remains fair to everyone (their IC words you see). The two will be taken to a room to plan strategy and get to know each other.

Not knowing who they're paired up with is expected really, but you are suggesting they do not know they will be paired up at all. Is this correct?

Yeap! It will be a mystery to them until those 4-5 hours. The only thing they DO know is that it will be with another Visitor.

1.) Can you have a character both in the tournament and on guard?
2.) Nick was planning on recruiting a few free-roaming spirits to try to keep an eye on things. Is that doable?

One other question: Will it be known in advance there's a chance they'll have to use their soul personas?

Soul Personas will be the basic for all tournament battles, regardless of the fighting conditions.

Semi-relatedly, can characters who have not yet awakened to their soul personas pick up Velvet/Aramid Room ones?

May characters use titles that they had back home? Like, for example, say we had Char Aznable in the game. Would he be able to use "The Red Comet?"

Is the type of match characters wind up in something that can at all be plotted ahead of time? I saw that you wrote they're randomly generated, but is there any chance of being able to um... randomly generate with care, so to speak?

For example, if a team lacks status effect abilities on their personas, can they be deliberately not placed into the status effect battle?

Or if a player adamantly hates sharks dolphins with all their heart and would very much prefer not to be playing their character in a situation with dolphins, because they fear ic/ooc bleedover, could they request no shark tank match? What do you mean this is a silly example?

Yes, we will be carefully making sure that characters would be able to have an effect in the battle. We will not be giving matches to characters who lack a certain requirements to a random match.

And if a player really hates out dolphins to the point it makes them uncomfortable! They could ask us not to put it in the random results as well. :3
