Atoli will be getting a Taillow - although I'm not sure what to go with for its Ability.

Would the "Scrappy" ability which ignores the immunity of Ghost-type Pokémon to Normal and Fighting moves act like the SMT passive Pierce?

I also kind of wonder about movesets!

If I had to make a decision I'd say Scrappy would only ignore Null Physical, not Resist or Absorb.

As for movesets, I'm trying to give each Pokemon an interesting moveset drawn from a combination of TMs, Egg Moves, and Level-Up Moves. I will note that if you don't like the initial moveset, it can be changed in-character by working with Kotoha to re-train your Pokemon.
